The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decisionmakers concerned with global security and prosperity.
Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of some 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.
CSIS is seeking a Program Manager or Associate Director to join the Project on Nuclear Issues.The position will support the operational and substantive goals of PONI and will be expected to play a key role in advancing the major initiatives of the program.
The primary purpose of this position is to support administrative aspects of the program and to assist the Director and Deputy Director.
Responsibilities cross all program components, including budget management, project organization, logistical management of personnel, scheduling, and written and verbal external and internal correspondence.
Much of the PM or AD's time (approximately 50%) will be spent coordinating the financial operations of PONI, including submitting expense reports and invoices, tracking spending, and supporting the development of the team's annual budget.
The remainder of the time (approximately 50%) will be spent supporting other project activities within PONI, such as coordinating events and publications process for the team, supporting the external communications activities, hiring and managing interns, and supporting internal processes for the team.
The PM or AD will report directly to PONI Director, Dr. Heather Williams. Minimum salary for Program Manager is $65,000 and for Associate Director is $75,000.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The functions of the Program Manager/Associate Director are divided among five major categories, including:
Scheduling:
Assisting with the arrangement of program activities, anticipating and deconflicting obstacles to program success, managing the Director's calendar;
Finances and budgeting:
Developing and monitoring program budgets and financial transactions, contributing to fundraising efforts, assisting with identification of donors, developing research proposals, updating funder documentation, and ensuring completion of reporting requirements;
Events:
Planning, executing, and directing program events, meetings, and domestic and international travel;
Communications:
Supporting operation of program social media and external communication, and interacting with a wide variety of individuals internally and externally, including funders, experts, partner organizations, government officials, etc.
;Administrative management of staff:
Directing and providing guidance to program interns and research assistants, and inputting and upkeeping program databases, document storage and operating procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

S degree required or equivalent experience; for Associate Director:
M.A./M.S. preferred;
