    Description

    The Department of Music at Hofstra University is pleased to invite applications for one Adjunct Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Jazz Piano for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

    Hofstra University is located on Long Island near New York City (25 miles east of Manhattan), with its wealth of business, entertainment, and cultural opportunities.     The successful candidate's primary responsibility will be teaching jazz piano lessons.
    • Semester of lessons is comprised of 10 one-hour lessons within the 14-week semester.
    • The successful candidate will also adjudicate juries and recitals and participate in auditions and recruitment activities for prospective students.
    • Additional opportunities may include coaching jazz combo performances, faculty recitals, workshops, and community outreach.
    • The successful candidate will be expected to teach 6-8 semester hours.
    Qualifications

    Applicants are expected to have:
    • Master's Degree in Music in Jazz Piano or equivalent experience.
    • Significant experience teaching musicians of varied ages and abilities.
    • Significant performance experience.
    • Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.
    Preferred Quals Summary
    • Demonstrated success in teaching undergraduate classes.
    • Previous teaching experience is desirable, but not required.

    Salary/Salary Range

    $1,422-$1,669 per credit

    Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education.
