    GENERAL SUMMARY/


    OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
    Summarize the nature and level of work performed.


    Receiving general direction from the Senior Operations Supervisor, incumbent ensures a safe and secure environment, provides protective service and response for protection of the people and property of the hospital, is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of his/her assigned shift and shift personnel.

    This is a uniform position, and the incumbent will serve at the rank of Lieutenant.


    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position.
    These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.

    • Supervises Security Officers assigned to shift, recommends various personnel actions including.
    hiring, promotion, transfer, discipline and termination.
    Executes disciplinary action as necessary.

    • Exercises independent judgment in the implementation, application, and enforcement of laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
    • Assigns personnel to their daily scheduled duties, reviews pass on information, journals, forms and reports since last tour of duty to ensure continuity of services and provide appropriate follow up, monitors line staff performance ensuring adherence to department and hospital policies and procedures.
    • Notifies hospital leadership and senior Police and Security leadership of any special occurrences taking place as needed.
    • Has oversight and coordinates onboarding for all new department employees.
    Conducts training programs leading to staff certification, including as needed.
    Conducts training for hospital staff as needed, including hospital orientation.
    Documents all training and maintains records of training for entire department.

    • Assists Senior Operations Supervisor as needed.
    • Performs fact finding investigations, interviews victims, witnesses and suspects as needed, assists with arrests of criminal suspects ensures completion, accuracy and timeliness of all documentation.
    • Acts as first responder to any hazmat incidents.
    • Performs additional duties as assigned and has the ability to perform all officer and dispatcher duties.
    • Participates in S.
    A.F.E Responses, IMT (Formerly FRAT) calls and general meetings as needed.

    Qualifications


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)

    • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or related field required.
    A combination of experience and education will also be considered.

    • Two years experience in Security, Law Enforcement or Military required.
    Five years of experience with two years of experience in a supervisory capacity in the same preferred.

    • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
    • Must have proven above average leadership, investigative, customer service, communication, and risk assessment skills.
    • Reliable and flexible
    • Must be able to gather, assemble, analyze, evaluate, and use facts and evidence.
    Interview victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects.

    • Must be able to prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence.
    • Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department):
    oCPR/AED/First Aid

    oComplete and Maintain all (AVADE) certification

    oCPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)

    oInternational Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Supervisor Certification within (1) year of appointment

    oPractical and Tactical Handcuffing and OC Spray (AVADE)

    oIncident Command Certification 100/200/700 within (1) year of appointment.

    • The ability to be licensed as a Special Police Officer under the Commonwealth of MA General Laws Chapter 22C, section 63 preferred.
    Once an SSPO status is obtained this designation must be maintained.


    PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS:
    (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)

    • Must be able to walk within hospital and around hospital campus; to and from parking areas and buildings on premises in all weather conditions.
    • Run short distances when responding to stat calls and emergencies; interacting with patients, visitors, employees as needed.
    • Stand for long periods of time both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
    • Lift, pull, and push when transporting and interacting with patients, visitors, employees.
