• DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
  • Increase the awareness on the part of the uninsured and underinsured in Southern Berkshire County of the availability of various means of paying for health care services, thereby eliminating or reducing inability to pay as a barrier to receiving health care. The program coordinator will perform outreach and marketing to increase Fairview Hospital's community profile in promoting access to health care services to those persons in need. The community coordinator will also work with newly enrolled members of publicly funded insurance programs to help them understand how their insurance plan works and how to navigate the health care system. For those persons not eligible, appropriate referrals will be made to appropriate organizations that may be able to offer assistance. The program coordinator will also have a basic knowledge of the hospital financial information system in order to provide updated information into the system.
• POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of two years outreach/human services/ financial information experience preferred.
  • Education and Training:
    • High school w/continuing education in relevant areas; associates degree or higher desirable.
  • License, Certification & Registration:
    • N/A
  • Other Requirements:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills required; must be comfortable dealing with persons in challenging situations; ability to communicate program goals and adjust to changing regulatory and outreach work environment is essential.
