Description
Position Overview:
Join our team as a dedicated School Guidance Counselor where you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive developmental program to students in personal and social development, academic achievement, and career and educational decision making. You will also serve as a consultant to staff, parents, and the community.
In this role, you will manage guidance services for students, staff, and parents, offering academic, career, and personal/social counseling, while also acting as the liaison between the guidance department, administration, staff, and the community.
Qualifications:Meets Maryland state certification requirements for school guidance counselor. Completion of Observing and Analyzing Teaching 1 (OAT1) within the first year and OAT2 by the end of the second year. Possess thorough knowledge of counseling roles, MCPS Policies, Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program, and growth stages of adolescents. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.
Requirements:
Master's degree in school guidance and counseling from an accredited institution. Minimum of three years of counseling experience. Other relevant combinations of education, training, and experience will be taken into consideration.
