    Description

    Financial Accountant at Navy Federal

    Navy Federal is looking for a Financial Accountant to handle financial accounting processes while ensuring compliance with federal and industry regulations and standards. Here's what you'll be doing:

    • Review and analyze financial statements, ledgers, and reconciliations
    • Perform monthly close activities
    • Conduct account reconciliation, analytics, and variance analysis
    • Apply knowledge of GAAP and ASC to prepare financial statements
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies and errors
    • Collaborate with management and staff for problem resolution
    • Participate in process improvement initiatives
    • Mentor and guide Accounting Technicians
    • Stay updated on emerging accounting policies
    • Lead small projects applying accounting knowledge

    Requirements:

    • Demonstrated experience in accounting
    • Familiarity with GAAP and technical accounting memos
    • Experience with financial/accounting systems like Peoplesoft
    • Knowledge of SOX control environment and testing of controls
    • Ability to work independently and lead projects
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Experience with credit union financials and NCUA regulations
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is a plus

    Hours:
    Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM
