    Overview:

    The Engineering Manager is responsible for the leadership of the Project Engineering team to do system design, integration, testing and commissioning to meet project delivery deadlines. Responsible for building and guiding the project engineering team. Focus on creating an environment that encourages teamwork, cross-functional collaboration, innovation and the successful accomplishment of goals. Ensuring the team understands the vision for the team and the impact their work has and the value they add to our customers and communities.

    Responsibilities:
    Leadership
    • Provide leadership, supervision, technical guidance and mentoring for the Project Engineering team as they follow the project design and deployment process.
    • Responsible for scheduling, prioritization and resource management as required to meet project delivery deadlines.
    • Responsible for full scale people management recruitment, onboarding, performance management reviewing and approving timesheets, vacation requests and sick leave.
    Customer and Industry Relationships
    • Participate in business planning and strategy planning for the department.
    • Ensure that the Project Engineering team provides site installation support as well as support for the development and delivery of training materials for internal and external customers as required.
    • Participate in the development of product requirements
    Innovation and Continuous Improvement
    • Organize and participate in system design reviews considering risk assessment and mitigation, quality assessment and improvements.
    • Participate in the development and improvement of processes used within Project Engineering and contribute to the development of corporate processes impacting the project team.
    Metrics
    • Ensure that schedules are being updated and information regarding project status is being communicated with Project Management, Production and other groups within Engineering as required.
    Sales & Budget
    • Prepare estimates for the development of new designs and features.
    • Prepare, review and update department budget.
    • Prepare preliminary design and background for support of proposals.
    Other
    • Maintain a knowledge and understanding of, and operate in accordance with, Quarterhill's Safety Manual.
    • Adhere to our working instructions and procedures.
    • Occasional travel to customer locations and field test sites.

    Qualifications:
    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
    • 5+ years increasingly Responsible Engineering Experience.
    Other Requirements
    • P. Eng. designation is desired but not required for this position.
    • 2 years supervisory experience.
