PAY RANGE $195,000 $255,000 Annual Salary - Pay based on applicable experience and qualifications POSITION OVERVIEWReporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Vice President-Controller has primary responsibility for the management of the organizations accounting department, including all aspects of corporate, development, property, resident services, and treasury functions.

As the day-to-day operations leader for the accounting department, this position is responsible for implementing new accounting standards and procedures, ensuring compliance with existing accounting and agency regulations, instituting internal controls to minimize risks as well as the preparation of financial reports for annual audits, tax compliance, management, regulatory agencies, and the Board of Directors.

The Vice President-Controller will coordinate the accounting activities with departments across the organization and ensure that all financial transactions / information / reports, policies, and procedures are in accordance with US GAAP standards and are accurately and timely submitted to management and regulatory agencies as required.

Success in the role will be measured by consistent high-quality delivery of the job duties, successful mentoring of the accounting team, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to positively influence and interact at all levels of the organization within the framework of the MidPen mission and core values.

This is a hybrid position, based on current MidPen policy of working Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Foster City Office.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday, option to work from home or the office. When working from home, requires a reliable internet connection.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES Directs the activities concerned with safekeeping, control, and accounting for assets and securitiesDirects and coordinates the organizations financial affairs according to financial principles and regulationsOversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systemsEnsures compliance with appropriate US GAAP, regulatory requirements and MidPen standards, including compliance with financial reporting requirements of all regulatory and partnership agreementsDevelops and maintains policies and procedures of financial recordkeeping and reportingMaintains accounting internal control and safeguards, including all balance sheet and income statement accounts and recordsDirects the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual, and consolidated financial accounting close processesMaintains inter-entity reconciliation and all processes of financial recordkeeping to ensure compliance with accounting and control systemsReviews all financial plans and compares to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriateLeads all audit and tax preparation activity and manages relationship with MidPen auditors and outsource vendorsSupports the CFO in engaging the Board and related committees (Audit, Finance) regarding annual audit and tax results, and quarterly financial resultsOversees the treasury and cash reporting functionsSupervises and tracks the performance of invested assets and ensures adherence with policies and investment guidelinesAdministers all aspects of new accounting technology implementationManages, mentors, and develops a high performing professional accounting teamLeverages strengths of the current accounting team members, clarify roles and responsibilities, and restructure as necessary for organizational best performance and supportDevelops and implements training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals and MidPen core valuesProvides leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environmentPerforms other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
