    Job Summary


    Responsible for managing all aspects of ledger and sub-ledger accounting for AEP, including accounting activity related to the general ledger closing process and coordinating the review and submission of annual and quarterly financial reports (FERC, SEC, GAAP, etc).

    This position will also provide written and oral testimony supporting AEP's regulatory filings in its jurisdictions. Support, direct and develop staff employees.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


    Responsible for managing all aspects of ledger accounting for AEP, including the core accounting services that are performed by AEP's third party provider.

    Provide written and oral testimony supporting AEP's regulatory filings in its jurisdictions, including serving as AEP's expert witness in various state and federal regulatory proceedings.

    Ensure the accurate and timely issuance of quarterly and annual FERC filings and state regulatory filings for assigned Business Units.

    Assist Financial Reporting with timely issuance of AEP's annual 10-K and quarterly 10-Q's, including registrant and non-registrant reporting, MD&A and footnote preparation and review.

    Manage the development and performance of detailed analytic procedures to proactively identify potential control issues and to add business insight to other AEP business partners.

    Responsible for prioritizing accounting process improvement needs and deploying latest technologies that result in measurable efficiency gains in collaboration with IT Manager and AEP's third-party provider of core accounting services.

    Ensure monthly closing process is completed timely and accurately in order to meet management expectations.
    Review and approve responses provided to data requests for AEP regulatory filings and proceedings, ensuring appropriate support and analysis.

    Manage the client side of external and internal audits by ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit requests and fostering a positive professional relationship with auditors.

    Foster employee development and growth through goal-setting, training and cultural initiatives.
    Develop and cultivate positive business relationships between Accounting and its AEP business partners.
    Identify areas of accounting and financial reporting risk. Develop and implement mitigating and/or preventive controls and procedures to address such risk.

    Review and/or assist with the preparation and review of internal management reports ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data.

    Ensure continued compliance with existing internal controls and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
    Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the AEP Corporate Compliance policy.
    Participate in special projects, as requested.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    Education requirements are listed below:
    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with a concentration in Accounting.

    Work Experience requirement listed below:

    8 years accounting experience.


    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    CPA certification preferred.
    Public accounting experience and/or experience with the client-side of an audit.
    Exposure to and familiarity with the utility industry
    Familiarity with latest technologies.
    Experience prioritizing and deploying process improvements using latest technologies.
    Experience with establishing and executing data analytics.
    PeopleSoft experience preferred.
    Detail-oriented with an ability to employ a logical approach to accomplish objectives and solve issues.
    Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing circumstances and requirements.
    Ability to work as part of a team and possess excellent time management and organization skills.
    Ability to lead and supervise others.
    Strong planning and organization skills.

    Physical demand level is Sedentary.

    Compensation Grade:
    SP20-010


    Compensation Range:
    $129, ,952.00 USD

    Candidates will be considered based on their qualifications and the candidate's ability to work from an approved work location. Although the location is flexible, AEP does not have a presence in all states and localities.

    The following locations are NOT currently approved for this position:

    AK, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IA, ID, KS, MA, ME, MS, MT, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OR, RI, SD, UT, VT, WY, US Territories or international work locations.

    AEP will consider qualified candidates who are willing to relocate to an approved work location, at the candidate's expense, provided the relocation can be completed within a timeframe that meets AEP's staffing needs.
