    INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES


    The Information Technologies Department provides a wide range of creative, practical technology solutions and services to the County of El Dorado.

    The Department has an overall budget of over $13 million and is organized into five units that employ more than 47 professional and technical staff.

    The Department is in the throes of exciting yet complex transformative initiatives including the County's transition to more cloud-based systems, Master Data Management, and Data Governance.


    THE OPPORTUNITY
    This position offers diverse professional duties related to designing, engineering, operating, and maintaining County IT networks and systems. The selected candidate will analyze network and information security requirements, develop infrastructure, and perform related assigned tasks.

    The selected candidate will have an opportunity to:


    Perform a diverse range of professional, analytical duties in the design, engineering, enhancement, operation, and maintenance of County information technology networks and related systems, including network hardware and related applications.

    Plan, determine requirements, design, build, test, implement, maintain, and enhance complex enterprise infrastructure network and/or security systems.


    Participate in the configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting of network components and security software, and coordinate/collaborate with other information technology staff in the integration of network projects with other systems.

    Determine network needs and develop plans and proposals to meet the needs of customers.

    Research to determine feasibility, and advise and recommend appropriate uses of network and/or security technologies.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT
    The ideal candidate will have the following experience and characteristics:

    Will have worked in a large multi-site, interconnected network environment

    Will have extensive experience configuring and administering layer 2 & 3 network devices

    Will have experience with network perimeter security devices

    Will have the ability to analyze and troubleshoot network protocol packet captures

    Will have experience with large wireless implementations and administration.

    Will understand network and data security frameworks

    Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

    Information Technology Analyst I – Network Design and Administration:


    Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field.

    Possession of one or more approved nationally recognized industry specific technology certifications may be substituted for some or all of the education.

    Information Technology Analyst II – Network Design and Administration:


    Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in information technology, computer science, or a closely related field.

    ; possession of one or more approved nationally recognized industry specific technology certifications may be substituted for some or all of the education; and


    EITHER
    Three (3) years of professional experience providing analytical support for enterprise or departmental network and security systems;

    OR


    Two (2) years of professional experience at a level equivalent to the County's class of Information Technology Analyst I – Network Design and Administration.


    Licenses and Certifications:


    Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Driver's License by time of appointment and a satisfactory driving record.

    This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full time, part time, limited term and extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months.

    In accordance with Personnel Rules and 1105.1, an extra help or limited term employee may be transitioned into a regular employee if the department in which the employee works has a vacant allocated position for the same classification as held by the extra help or limited term employee and the appointing authority requests such transfer.
