- Provide general patient care by attending to the comfort and hygiene needs of the patients through tasks such as bathing, oral hygiene procedures, hair care, and changing bedding.
- Assist with technical care procedures including patient testing, IV tubing setup, ECG procedures, tracheostomy care, and wound dressing changes.
- Support in equipment setup and supply for physicians and professional staff.
- Aid in patient transport and mobility using assistive devices.
- Ensure effective communication through documentation and interaction with patients and families while maintaining confidentiality.
- Promote quality outcomes by utilizing time and resources efficiently.

In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of direct patient care procedures to support the unit manager, professional staff, and physicians in delivering patient-centered care addressing the patient's needs.

Individuals working as Patient Care Assistants at Loyola University Medical Center prior to 1997 are exempt from the above guidelines and are grandfathered into the Patient Care Tech roles upon successful completion of an in-house orientation and training program for the Patient Care Tech position.
