    Sous Chef

    Heritage Hill Assisted Living

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Responsible for preparing and serving planned menu as well as maintaining quality standards in the dining services department.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Prepare tasteful, nutritionally balanced meals based on pre-planned menus
    • Prepare meals with consideration of resident preferences and food safety standards
    • Responsible for ensuring pleasing plate presentation for all meals
    • Ensuring resident special diets are offered and prepared, recognizing a resident's right to choose
    • Complete dining room service, including set up, service and clean up with high hospitality standards
    • Assist with inventory and maintain supplies in all common area kitchenettes
    • Assist with training all staff who support meal service, as requested
    • Follow the sanitation schedule for kitchen, equipment, and dining room to maintain standard of sanitation and cleanliness
    • Participate in preparation for special events
    • Serve as backup to the Chef Manager for ordering adequate supplies weekly based on menu, budget, current inventory and storage capabilities
    • Promote positive relationships with residents, staff and visitors

    Perform any other duties as requested within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Education and Experience
    High school diploma/GED is required. Culinary Arts courses are preferred or two years of experience with cooking/baking in a commercial setting or a combination of education and work experience.

    Computer Skills

    Must have demonstrable knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office in a Windows environment, with a capacity to master company specific software.

    Certificates & Licenses

    Current Serv-Safe Manager Certified or obtained within 90 days of hire.
