Job SummaryJob DescriptionPermian Basin Overview ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years.
Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin.
Permian saw significant growth in 2021 with the acquisition of Concho Resources Inc. in January 2021 and the addition of Shell's Permian acreage in December 2021. DescriptionThis posting is for a Completions Engineer who will report directly to the Completions Engineering Supervisor supporting the Midland Basin.
If you are selected as the Completions Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for providing engineering support for the completion of newly drilled wells in the Midland Basin.
The position will interact closely with Permian Completion Engineers, Drilling Engineers, Production Engineers, Reservoir Engineers, Geologists, Field Operations, and global company experts, working together on challenging asset development projects.
Responsibilities may include:
Handle multiple completion projects in different phases of development while also providing support to Field Operations during job executionPlan completion projects and generate detailed procedures and cost estimatesEnsure standard engineering practices & corporate processes are rigorously followedParticipate in risk assessment processes, as requiredEvaluate completion designs for mechanical integrity and ensure they meet all corporate and regulatory requirementsEnsure accurate documentation of work activity, cost reporting and lessons learnedGenerate project lookback documentationCommunicate cost variance relative to AFE and planned activity on a regular basisLead After Action Reviews that capture lessons learned and improvement opportunitiesMaintain communication with an integrated team to ensure decisions are made in an effective and timely mannerElevate decisions and issues to leadership team, in a timely mannerDevelop and maintain metrics that will foster a culture of continuous improvementLead technical projects, evaluate and recommend technologies and services to improve efficiencies and performanceCollaborate with Completion Engineers in other ConocoPhillips business unit to share knowledge and build local leading practicesParticipate in industry forums to gather benchmarking data and best practicesMentor other engineers and team membersBasic/Required:Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employerBachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, other related business field, other related technical field, or foreign equivalent3+ years of experience in completions, drilling, and/or well interventionPreferred:3+ years of experience supporting horizontal completions operations in unconventional plays1+ years of experience with mentorship, coaching and informal leadershipWell-developed communication skills (both written and verbal)
