Department Summary:
MITRE is seeking Senior and Lead Economists to support our growing portfolio of applied economics work across various sponsors.
Focused on solving problems for a safer world, we engage in quantitative domestic and international economic modeling and analysis to inform policy changes and technology impacts, among others.
Our team's expertise spans advanced econometrics, macroeconomics, microeconomics, industrial organization, forecasting, policy analysis, and more, providing valuable insights into various economic effects.
We collaborate with experts from government, industry, and academia, working on projects sponsored by government agencies with a strong applied research focus.
Join a multidisciplinary team of applied economists where tasks are varied, requiring innovative approaches to problem-solving.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Econometric and economic modeling and analysis
- Handling large datasets for data-driven analysis
- Policy analysis and sponsor engagement
- Economic analysis supporting regulatory policy
- Forecasting and applied research
- Additional responsibilities as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficiency in advanced econometrics, economic analysis, and large data sets
- Knowledge of economic data sources like Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. Census, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and backgrounds
- At least 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in transportation, critical infrastructure, geoeconomics, and other relevant areas
- Familiarity with computable general equilibrium modeling
- Ph.D. or candidate in Economics
