    Description

    Job Summary:
    The Assistant Vice President-Perioperative Services provides leadership, direction, and oversight of operations for the Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) system hospitals perioperative service line and Endoscopy lab. Requires significant revenue responsibilities. Requires a high-level understanding of healthcare financing and delivery and the ability to think strategically and offer innovative solutions to complex challenges. Performs instrumental role in developing and operationalizing business analytics and improvement methodologies for multifaceted entities in a large tertiary teaching medical center. Delivers key transformational and performance initiatives and poses innovative ways of doing things to embed system thinking into the perioperative organizational culture. Demonstrates advanced knowledge and a strong understanding of competitive industry dynamics, customer needs, financial impacts and market trajectory. Demonstrates leadership expertise and develops trusting and credible working relationships with physicians, financial planning and analysis, and executive leadership to strategically position perioperative services for success and drive solutions. Demonstrates progressive business acumen that supports the organizational strategic goals of LLUH. Maintains knowledge of process improvement models and approaches and optimizes performance excellence. Performs other duties as needed.


    Education and Experience:
    Master's Degree in the field of healthcare, administration or business required. Minimum five years of perioperative experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies leadership and administration required.


    Knowledge and Skills:
    Substantial knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, quality, patient safety, performance improvement methodologies, finance, medical staff structure, peer review and legal aspects of care and evidenced-based clinical practice standards required. Demonstrates professional competency and ability to develop and execute both strategic and financial plan in a multi-initiative organization with competing priorities. Must have highly developed oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates a high degree of social skills in obtaining cooperation and support from a broad range of people and ability to work effectively with physician, nursing, administrative and ancillary staff. Able to inspire and motivate others. Knowledge of adult learning principles, management and problem-solving methodologies required. Able to use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Microsoft Office, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information and clinical knowledge; work independently with minimal supervision; meet deadlines; perform basic math and statistical functions; demonstrate expert time management and manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; problem solve in a proactive and creative manner; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records and written documents necessary to position.


    Licensures and Certifications:
    Active California Registered Nurse licensure preferred.
