    Job Description

    Job DescriptionSalary:

The Neuropsychiatric hospitals offer the unique opportunity to work with an atypical psychiatric population, with 60-70% of our patients being Geriatrics with Major Neurocognitive Disorders due to all types of dementia and other delirium etiologies. The remaining 30-40% of our patients include adults with more typical psychotic and mood disorders, as well as a limited number of younger adult patients suffering from traumatic brain injury, autism, intellectual disability or other neurodevelopmental disorders.

You would be part of a true interdisciplinary team that includes Psychiatry and Internal Medicine. Together, you would contribute to the team's understanding and treatment of comorbid psychological and medical challenges, particularly those with Major Neurocognitive Disorders.

Successful members of our team respect our geriatric population and wish to join us in giving them the best quality care in the twilight of their life. They are also individuals who enjoy and thrive in a semi-independent work environment within the faster pace of an acute care hospital setting. Persons who thrive here are flexible and are willing to accept the challenges of our atypical population not found in any other setting.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • You will be using a focused therapy/assessment model to offer the highest quality, individualized care for each person.
    • Under an HSPP's supervision and direction, you would be responsible for assisting with psychological assessments that directly help navigate the treatment plan of your patients.
    • A typical day in the hospital will consist of individual therapy sessions and/or group therapy sessions, and complete with new admission intakes; there is also some involvement in interdisciplinary team staffing and participation in care conferences.
    • Expected to complete assessments during the stay as well as initial diagnostic evaluations.
    • The work schedule is five days per week with no weekends and no on-call time.

    Education and Experience:

Masters level clinicians with geriatric, Health Psychology, and/or Neuropsychology training or experience, or those who are familiar with hospital settings are encouraged to apply.

Neuropsychological testing for clarity of diagnosis and proper treatment planning is also a valuable skill. Such experience is not required, only a desire to expand your knowledge base into the growing area of geriatric psychological and neuropsychiatric care.
