    The MBTA non-treating medical clinic provides Occupational Health services for Employees Additionally they are responsible for all pre-employment physical exams including DOT examinations.

    The Nurse Practitioner will provide professional nursing services following departmental and professional guidelines, working independently or with supervision from the Manager of medical operations and the Medical Director.

    Conduct interviews and record medical histories of employees or applicants.
    Conduct audiometric and vision testing.
    Perform urine dipstick chemical analysis.
    Provide health related education.
    Notify employees/applicants of abnormal results and advise them of MBTA medical standards.
    Prepare medical referrals to obtain further evaluation and past medical records.
    Maintain the Medical Examination information for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) database in a timely manner.
    Conduct chart reviews including a review of all medical documentation submitted to the OHS medical clinic.
    Collaborate with the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and the Workers' Compensation Department according to appropriate need.
    Provide education for Medical Assistants, including new hires to the department.
    Provide supervision for Medical Assistants in collaboration with clinical management.
    Available to work all shifts and locations as assigned or directed.
    Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned.
    Supervision
    Masters degree in nursing from an accredited institution
    Certified Medical Examiner FMCSA (49 CFR 391.Ability to review complex medical documentation and findings.
    Experience in medical case management, and knowledge of Occupational Health in the workplace

    Experience with the chronic medical condition monitoring such as hypertension, diabetes, coronary conditions, medications, and mental health issues as they relate to the ability for an applicant/employee to safely perform their job duties.

    Ability to uphold the rights and interests of the MBTA while building and maintaining effective relationships with employees and co-workers

    Have a satisfactory work record for the two (2) years immediately prior to the closing date of this posting (unless if recent graduate), including overall employment, job performance, discipline, and safety records (infractions and/or offenses occurring after the closing of the posting and before the filling of a vacancy may preclude a candidate from consideration for selection)
    Ability to pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check, comprehensive background screening, and medical Clinic screening, potentially including a physical examination and drug and alcohol screenings
    Ability to work all shifts and / or locations assigned, directed, or necessary for this position, including (for some transit / operations roles) up to twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week as necessary to accommodate severe weather conditions, emergencies, or any other circumstances that may potentially impact service or the safety of service
