    Summary

    The Plant Controller is responsible for collaborating with the Executive Team to meet the production and profitability goals of the plant. Using key performance metrics, this individual will champion the efficiency improvement process to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve quality and safety. The individual will also be responsible to assist in preparing various timely and accurate financial reports.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work with the accounting management team and plant leadership teams to assist developing budgets, metrics and financial goals that align with Corporate targets
    • Work with Plant leadership teams to ensure budgetary goals are met. Vigorously investigate variances from plan to identify root cause. Track all plant operating costs against budget and recommend team on key factors affecting performance.
    • Responsible for documenting and closely evaluating key performance metrics to include but not limited to, plant profitability, operating equipment efficiency, production output, inventory turns, wage and overtime control, expense and utility cost control. Using these metrics, work with the team to optimize plant performance.
    • Lead continuous improvement program, track trends and engage team to develop a continuous improvement culture. Develop programs to solicit, evaluate and implement improvement ideas. Prioritize opportunities in order to optimize resources. Track all improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, cost, waste reduction and process gains.
    • Developing accurate plant, logistics, process, and product costing methodology. Leads efforts to hit product segments' cost targets.
    • Drive clarity on plant utilization and capacity. Use operational metrics to track utilization and capacity and identify opportunities to improve.
    • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly financial analysis to guide Plant leadership decision making. Provide corporate management with timely reviews of plant's performance and progress with various programs and activities.
    • Maintain, and update as needed, system cost data for material, packaging, labor and overhead to ensure accurate representation of plant operations.
    • Provide the Corporate Finance Group with financial analysis and manufacturing cost analysis by:
    • Timely and accurately assist preparing monthly financial reporting to include detailed analysis of sales, direct labor variances and weekly P&L forecasts
    • Preparing and managing actual, forecast, and budget scenarios and reconciliations throughout the course of the year.
    • Providing management with the strategic tools and reports to drive business results.
    • Liaise with the Finance & Accounting organization for all the plant's accounting needs
    • Collaborate with plant controllers on finance led initiatives as needed
    • Interact with the VP of Administration and CFO through weekly staff meetings, presentations of financial plans /analyses /strategies and represents the plants position in these discussions
    • Support corporate initiatives regarding policy and procedures such as reports, purchase orders, general ledger, forecasting, return on investment analysis, capital tracking, expense controls, and additional requirements.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Required: 3-10 years of Plant Controller experience within CPG Manufacturing (food manufacturing preferred but not required)
    • B.A. in Accounting, Master's Degree is a plus.
    • Accounting designation preferred (CPA/CMA)
    • Strong leadership skills with a track record of process improvement.
    • Superior analytical and thinking skills; intellectual rigor and curiosity; problem-solving capability
    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
