    Fire Alarm Engineering/Drafter Examples

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design and engineer fire alarm systems in accordance with local, state, and national codes and regulations.
    • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints.
    • Utilize CAD software to create detailed drawings and schematics of fire alarm layouts.
    • Select appropriate components and equipment for fire alarm systems, considering factors such as building layout, occupancy, and hazard level.
    • Conduct site surveys to assess conditions and ensure accurate system design and implementation.
    • Provide technical support and assistance to project teams during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in technology, and changes in codes and standards.

    Qualifications:

    • NICET 2 or the ability to acquire within the first 90 days.
    • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
    • Strong knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, etc.).
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Prior experience in fire alarm design or related field preferred.

    Overview:

    We are a leading Fairfax, Virgina-based company specializing in fire protection services. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Fire Alarm Engineer/Drafter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, installing, and maintaining fire alarm systems to ensure the safety and security of buildings and occupants.

    Responsibilities:

    Design and draft fire alarm system layouts for commercial and residential buildings, ensuring compliance with local and national fire safety regulations.

    Collaborate with architects, contractors, and building owners to develop customized fire alarm solutions tailored to specific needs and requirements.

    Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

    Provide technical support and training to building occupants on fire safety procedures and the proper use of fire alarm systems.

    Stay up-to-date on industry trends, codes, and standards related to fire alarm systems.

    Qualifications:)

    Proficiency in AutoCAD and other design software (for the Fire Alarm Drafter position)

    Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and standards related to fire alarm systems

    Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

    NICET Level II Fire Alarm Systems are a plus or eligible for the certification.
