    General Summary/basic PURPOSE OF JOB:
    • Oversees the provision of highly specialized respiratory care services to the patients served by the Sinai Health System. Develops clinical practice standards for the practice of respiratory care by incorporating evidence-based medicine.
    • Provides Specialist advice and education to patients, family members and the multidisciplinary team regarding health promotion and positive outcomes in respiratory disease.
    • Assists in discharge planning by providing respiratory needs assessment and liaison with appropriate internal and external support services.
    • Develops and implements care plans for respiratory care delivery at Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital.
    • Coordinates formal and informal instruction and competency assessment of clinical staff providing respiratory care services at Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital.
    • Enhances job satisfaction, recruitment and retention by educating respiratory care staff members. Provides clinical instruction to respiratory therapists.
    • Liaison to Sinai Health System Sleep lab and Pulmonary Clinic
    • Assists with clinical research projects. Assigned other duties as required by manager.
    • 4 hour shift, 5 days per week
    • MINIMUM EDUCATION:

    • Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

    • Bachelors Degree is preferred.

    MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

    • 5 years of clinical experience.

    • Must be proficient in verbal and written communications.

    • Computer literacy is required.

    • Demonstrated teaching skills are required.

    REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC.

    • Must be licensed by the State of Illinois as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).

    • BLS certification is required.

    • ACLS certification is required within six months of employment.

    • BLS instructor certification is required within one-year of employment.
