    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    Performs complex (journey-level) electronic physical security work. Work involves installing, uninstalling, operating, programming, diagnosing, resolving issues, and decommissioning all electronic security equipment. Work is performed statewide with multi-agency groups (i.e., TLC, TFC, Office of Gov, DIR and SPB). Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
    The following Military Occupational Specialty codes are generally applicable to this position. Applicants must fully complete the summary of experience to determine if minimum qualifications are met.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Assists with planning and implementing projects from the design through install which includes the overall health of the project. 2.

    Reports on the progress, tracks spending, and documents all data associated with each project (e.g., Sever operating system, IP address, License, software patches, camera, etc.).

    3.

    Installs, configures, maintains, and administers physical security servers which includes installing the video platform application, applying security vulnerability patches, and decommission servers after agency retention period is met.

    4. Maintains and programs cameras, AI phone, access control equipment, and all associated security devices. This includes replacement, troubleshooting, upgrading hardware, and decommissioning equipment. 5.

    Defines and manages the roles and access levels of individual users requiring access to the video applications on the respective servers and access control system.

    6. Conducts training for Electronic Security Technicians and end users on the access control system and video mgt. software. 7.

    Monitors and tracks all physical security servers, access control components and camera equipment for end of life and report to management funding that is required to replace or upgrade equipment and licenses.

    8.

    Assists with special investigation requests and internal audits for internal divisions and external agencies on the departments multi agency shared access control and video platforms.

    9. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.10. Perform other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS:
    Education – High School Diploma/equivalent required. Associate's degree with Major or coursework emphasis in electronics or computer management systems preferred.
    Experience – Minimum of two years' experience performing technical installation of security access control and video surveillance equipment.

    Additional work experience of the type described or other related education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

    Licensure and/or Certification – Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.

    Regulatory knowledge – Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.

    Technology – Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint, Fac Connect) and be able to learn new software/systems.

    Interpersonal Skills – Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.

    Schedule and/or Remote/Telecommuting work and/or Travel – Availability for after-hours, weekend work, holidays, overnight, and emergencies may be required. Telecommuting up to 2 days per week. Travel statewide as needed.

    Extensive (30-60%); may also be transported by Agency Aircraft.
