    Pay Range (final offer is based on a number of factors, such as certifications, experience, and more):

    $25.00/hour - $28.15/hour

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Certified Prevention Specialist under the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals or similar experience either through education or certification working in the substance use disorder field or other public health field.
    • One (1) year of experience providing substance use prevention services prior to employment. Education may be substituted for experience where coursework is directly related to substance use prevention, or the public health field.
    • Experience developing, providing, and/or evaluating environmental prevention programs/services.
    • Experience conducting activities that align with the Spectrum of Prevention and Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF).
    • Experience in leading, facilitating, engaging and/or organizing community members, schools, businesses, and other stakeholders in the implementation/adoption of a community and/or population-based effort.
    • Ability to implement evidence-based strategies and prevention concepts to address substance use related community problems and contributing factors.
    • Competency to work with the various ethnic/cultural groups in the target area/community(ies).
    • Minimum 1 year of supervisor/management experience preferred
    • Bilingual skills highly preferred (i.e., Spanish or other language relevant to the clients' needs).
    • Knowledge of Evidenced Based prevention programs preferred.
    • Must possess a valid California driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record under the Agency's liability policy. May be required to obtain a Class II California driver's license.
    • Must pass all applicable health, fingerprint/LiveScan and DMV clearances.
    JOB PURPOSE:

    The Prevention Coordinator (PC) position reports directly to the Prevention Supervisor. The PC is the primary contact for coordinating the prevention services for the Department of Public Health Substance Use Prevention Services for Prevention Education Program (PEP). This position is responsible for ensuring the work-plan initiatives are carried out and works in conjunction with the prevention project evaluator and the PMSP. This position is held by an individual with certification in either prevention services under the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals or similar experience in substance use services or the public health field.

    The PC is an energetic self-starter who is able to function comfortably in a team environment or independently and relate well to community partners, co-workers and County representatives. This position requires flexibility and the ability to manage time and multiple tasks with little supervision. The individual in this position must be able to assume a wide range of responsibilities, provide timely responses to requests and deadlines and work well under pressure.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
    • Supervise prevention and outreach specialists according to programmatic requirements adhering to county, state and federal guidelines.
    • Ensure that prevention services provided by the prevention specialists meet guidelines for the prevention program , in accordance with policies and applicable contracts.
    • Assist the Prevention Program Supervisor (PPS) in monitoring the Department of Public Health (DPH) contract, ensuring that all contractual and budgetary guidelines are met, including required staff training, documentation/report standards and timelines.
    • Assume responsibility for prevention program development, referral processes, and training - consistent with contract requirements, Center policies, and PMSP directives.
    • Ensure that reports to DPH , and the Center's Board and Management are timely and accurately represent the services that are being provided by Prevention services.
    • Demonstrate initiative (e.g. obtaining information and planning for prevention/outreach needs)
    • Provide limited prevention/outreach services if needed such as presentations, resource tables, social media content, and community events.
    • Attend off-site meetings with community representatives, (DPH), and as needed and directed by the PPS ensuring information from these meetings is reported back to prevention/outreach team.
    • Provide direct supervision for prevention and outreach staff as assigned, which includes weekly supervision, administrative supervision including hours worked, productivity, and that documentation is being completed within County/State Contracted organizations as well as Child & Family Center requirements.
    • Be on-call for selected weekends and evenings and attend prevention organized events as support for staff if applicable.
    • Conduct staff performance reviews on an annual basis or as directed by the Human Resources Department. Provide staff with ongoing feedback on their performance.
    • Maintains agency attendance standards for staff and department needs.
    • Manage all information containing sensitive/confidential content with utmost discretion and adherence to all relevant policies and procedures. Maintain confidentiality for all sensitive matters.
    • Collaborate with other staff across the organization as needed to promote prevention/outreach activities and integration among departments.
    • Collaborate and interact with outside agencies and community partners and represent the Child & Family Center in a professional manner.
    • Participate in Community Outreach efforts.
    • All other relevant duties as assigned.
    WORK SCHEDULE: (subject to change based on Center's needs)

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    Work-Week: Sunday - Saturday
    • Actual work schedule as agreed with Direct Supervisor and based on business/program needs.
    SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

    Directly supervises Prevention and Outreach Specialist.
