    Position Description

    The Senior Director, Individual Giving is responsible for individual and private donations for the core of the agencys unrestricted support. This position will oversee Planned Giving, Legacy Gifts, Direct Mail, and CRM Platforms. This position will cultivate and retain current donors, re-engage lapsed donors, and prospect for new donors. Will collaborate with senior staff members to strategize to optimize successful solicitations.

    Essential Job Functions

    The following duties are mandatory requirements of the job:

    • Oversee and manage all aspects of the Major Gifts program and Database & Research
    • Manage donor records, acknowledgements, solicitations, and state registrations.
    • Possess development operations experience in managing database platforms. (Salesforce, Microsoft Suite, and CRM databases.
    • Manage the Double Your Donation Initiative to increase individual & organization partnerships.
    • Establish and maintain a donor cultivation cycle and gift stewardship program for our mission to increase levels of support annually. Identify individual and household giving potentials.
    • Prepare written materials, including correspondence, solicitation materials, acknowledgements, and regular communications as part of the cultivation and stewardship program.
    • Prepare marketing materials, including annual fund brochures and donor impact reports.
    • Create and update constituent files and in the database, Salesforce. Send acknowledgment letters to donors.
    • Update donors on a needed basis through phone calls and emails for successful campaigns and invitations.
    • Along with leadership build a strategy for increasing revenue, bringing new donors to the agency and for meeting with current donors on a regular basis.
    • Work with the leadership team to set up meetings with donors.
    • Maintain the Planned Giving & Legacy Gift Campaign. Process and keep track of bequests and estates.
    • Work with the Database Coordinator to monitor and code gifts accordingly.
    • Attend and support the AIDS Walk Event.
    Other Responsibilities

    The supervisor may assign the following duties:
    • Assist at Special Events when needed for donor cultivation.
    • Work with colleagues throughout the agency to raise awareness of GMHC programs and services.
    • Assist Development team in analysis and explanation of development performance by providing statistics, and trends regarding giving.
    • Prepare and maintain regular donor reports for Development team and be able to brief team on donor standing.
    • Supervises volunteers and interns, as needed.
    • Occasionally requires evening or weekend work.
    • Performs other duties as needed.
    Education and Certification
    • Bachelors Degree in fundraising institutions and agencies.
    • Minimum of 5-7 years of Development and Major Gifts experience.
    Special Skills and Knowledge

    In addition to the above-listed job responsibilities and educational requirements, the ideal candidate for this position possesses most or all the following:
    • Experience with Salesforce or other fundraising databases.
    • Experience in speaking with donors on the phone and in-person.
    • Strong Microsoft Office and Outlook skills.
    • Familiarity with social media networks.
    • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and perform under pressure.
    • Strong organizational skills and experience interacting with donors. Excellent personal and written communication.
