    Job Summary:

    The Process and Automation Engineer is integral to the Octopi team's engineering function, delivering a comprehensive range of engineering services aligned with strategic direction and operational needs. This role focuses on implementing efficient ways of working, closely integrated with the brewery's automation and control strategy, OT cybersecurity, networking, capital project design and execution, and IT/OT convergence. The Process and Automation Engineer is responsible for implementing strategies and initiatives regarding advancing control and automation systems to optimize brewery operations. The role is a point of contact between the technical team and stakeholders to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity. Responsibilities include implementation, maintenance, and upgrades for process systems, MES (Manufacturing Execution System), SCADA, data collection, reporting, cybersecurity, networking, and instrumentation systems. This role also plays an active role in troubleshooting, problem solving, and providing team support in process and automation functions.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    Quality and Productivity:

    · Prepare, coordinate, and complete improvement projects for process control & automation (including CAPEX projects) on time and in accordance with the established quality requirements and within the budget

    · Lead projects to improve the efficiency of equipment and installations (including CAPEX projects)

    · Prepare and maintain documentation for equipment installations and expansions

    · Implement and operate asset strategy in AEI manufacturing & supply chain

    · The equipment in Manufacturing operate in accordance with the established efficiency and quality standards

    · Support Asahi Way programs and execute action plans related to control & automation field

    Technical Support:

    · Ensure that technical support service is provided to brewery staff for operational technology systems, including brewery equipment and automation systems

    · Ensure that root cause analysis, troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues services are delivered promptly to minimize downtime and ensure smooth brewery operations

    Maintenance and Optimization:

    · Oversee routine maintenance tasks for operational technology systems, ensuring they operate at peak performance

    · Identify opportunities for optimization and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability

    · Solve problems related to the maintenance of electrical and automation equipment and installations on time and in a most effective manner, meeting the industrial standards

    · Confirm the stock of spare parts and tools used in the maintenance automation equipment are readily available

    · Manage the automation maintenance budget efficiently and effectively

    · Maintain the functional settings of the OT systems used in the process control and the information stored in these systems under safe conditions (cyber security) - periodic archiving of information and settings

    · Consistently update and execute the plan for checking and / or calibrating field instrumentation and in-line control equipment

    · Update technical documentation related to electrical, automation and software installations to completion

    · Participate appropriately in the development, execution, and maintenance of agreements with suppliers of spare parts and maintenance services for electrical and automation equipment

    · Keep computer systems used in the process control intact, in working order

    o Based upon OT policies, establish procedures and levels of authority to ensure the integrity and security of the systems and the relevant staff is regularly trained

    o Continually assess risks and communicate the action plans to senior management

    · Responsible for communicating, coordinating and oversight of all planned maintenance for operational technology systems

    Continuous improvement

    · Implement innovative solutions and best practices to optimize technology systems and enhance productivity

    · Identify critical electrical and automation equipment and installations - ensure preventive maintenance & replacement (CAPEX) program is available

    · Provide higher level support and set leadership tone in terms of problem solving, root cause analysis and optimization of tasks.

    · Ensure operators/users are trained in the efficient operation of software systems

    · Adhere to all PPE and GMP requirements

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    · Knowledge of problem solving (eg 5W,FMEA, etc.) and continuous improvement techniques

    · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization

    · Detail-oriented with strong organizational, leadership and documentation skills

    · Ability recognize needs, initiate and follow through with solutions with minimal oversight

    · Ability to lift 55lbs and move 165lb as needed

    · Ability to stand for long periods of time with wide range of motion

    Education and Experience:

    · Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics), Computer Science, Telecommunications or related field, preferred - vocational or associate's degree with applicable experience also considered

    · Minimum 5 years of experience in similar role in industrial environment

    · Troubleshooting skills and technical proficiency in automation systems, PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley Studio 5000), SCADA systems, and industrial control software - data collection technologies are included

    · Knowledge of Siemens S7 and TIA, a plus

    · Knowledge of Proleit Brewmaxx, a plus

    · Solid knowledge of Operational Technology (OT), including but not limited to architecture, HW, SW, IT parts and cybersecurity, including reporting

    · Strong knowledge of plant utilities (refrigeration, steam, compressed air, CO2, and electrical) is essential

    · Demonstrated strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, IO and industrial communications

    · Working knowledge of instrumentation: flow, level, pressure, temperature, inline process analyzers

    · Experience working in a liquid processing facility, a plus
