    Description

    The Radiology Technician (RT) will independently operate diagnostic equipment, complete routine imaging studies, and assist physicians in a variety of imaging procedures. The RT must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and imaging techniques. The RT must also communicate with patients and relay any pertinent information to the physician and document appropriately. The RT is responsible for maintaining safety standards and performing appropriate quality control procedures.

    Responsibilities:

    • Safely operates x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body according to established procedures and protocols.
    • Performs high quality digital x-rays, electronically upload on a secure server and process written reports. Troubleshoots equipment problems as needed.
    • Maintains x-ray equipment and supplies. Calibrates all ancillary testing equipment daily and ensures all calibrations and monthly safety acceptance records are QA'd and maintained.
    • Maintains x-ray PACS including storage, retrieval, transportation, and documentation.
    • Maintains examination rooms and equipment. Cleans instruments. Maintains inventory of supplies.
    • Assists physicians upon request and communicates effectively with other care providers (physicians, nurses, etc.) to provide for continuity of patient care and to meet the needs of the patients we serve.
    • Communicates with providers concerning pathology and appropriate positioning to view specific anatomy on radiographs.
    • Operates testing equipment to administer audiograms, visual acuity, ocular tension, pulmonary function, evidential breath alcohol testing, drug screen UA collection, and electrocardiogram and obtains vital signs as needed.
    • Maintains QA program and performs Quality Control tests on x-ray equipment.
    • Adheres to and fosters acceptable health and safety practices, including ALARA.
    • Ensures yearly competencies and maintains job required certifications/licensing/CE credits.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Requirements

    Required Skills and Training:
    • Ability to work a minimum of 3 shifts per month (typically 10 hours per shift)
    • Clinic hours are currently Monday-Friday during business hours however, this is subject to change and may result in a need to work some night shifts and possible weekends.
    • Ability to perform radiographic exams as requested with accuracy, quality and assess a finished radiograph (critique).
    • Ability to demonstrate supportive behaviors necessary for age-specific care.
    • Ability to operate all testing equipment and demonstrate calibration procedures.
    • Ability to appropriately protect and maintain private and confidential information.
    • Skills in communicating and interacting effectively with the patients and the public.
    • Ability to maintain testing and exam rooms and testing equipment.
    • Ability to perform work that meets professional and state regulatory guidelines.
    • Ability to explain X-ray equipment limitations, hazards, and safety features.
    • Demonstrates safe operation of X-ray equipment and meets or exceeds regulatory requirements.
    • Demonstrates proper positioning, technique selection and technical factors needed to perform each radiographic exam.
    • Ability to explain the function of each piece of imaging related equipment in X-ray department and each control on the X-ray generator.
    Required Education and Experience:
    • Associate in Applied Science in Radiologic Technology.
    • Current registration as a certified Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
    • Certified as a Radiologic Technologist in the state of Washington.
    • BLS health care provider certification
    • MA-R certification (must be obtained within 90 days of employment)

    • Walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time
    • Reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear
    • Have sufficient manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone and other such office equipment as necessary
    • Occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
    • Specific visual abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment:
    • Work will mainly be performed at the Occupational Medical Services Clinic
    • Frequent contact with other contract and project employees, customers, clients, representatives and vendors
    • Interaction with others is frequent
    • May occasionally work hours outside of typical work schedule to accommodate needs
    • Opportunities for local travel may occur
    Salary Range

    $35.00-$37.50 per hour

    Must be U.S. Citizenship or National and have ability to successfully obtain necessary security clearance.
