    SAIC is a prime contractor partnered with the US Navy to provide MK48 Heavyweight Torpedoes and torpedo test sets to the Fleet.

    SAIC seeks a

    Chief Engineer of

    Torpedo Programs

    to participate in the execution of current programs and design of future weapons and test sets.

    This person will report to the Vice President for Undersea Warfare and Support at SAIC, who is headquartered in Middletown, RI.

    The person can work a mix of in-office and remote, preferably

    near Middletown, RI.

    This person will serve as a senior adviser to the Vice President for USW and to his team of program managers and SMEs.

    This person will work alongside the Growth (Business Development, Capture, Solutions, and Proposal) organizations to develop capture and proposal artifacts and submit proposals for new work.

    This person will work directly on multiple current projects to apply torpedo expertise and leadership to ensure mission success for the Navy client.

    The Chief Engineer of

    Torpedo Programs


    will lead systems engineering lifecycle implementation and process improvement and implementation activities across several disciplines including configuration management, reporting systems and software build and delivery, risk management, quality assurance, and customer engagement.

    Responsibilities include overseeing the systems engineering principles throughout the systems life cycle phases:
    Concept, Requirements Analysis, Architecture Design, Implementation, Verification and Validations, Transition, Support, and Disposal.

    This position will directly interface with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts, and communicate with other program personnel, government overseers, and SAIC senior executives.

    Additional responsibilities include supporting program management by monitoring program performance, mentoring and serving as a technical resource for SAIC engineering team, and creating, improving, and championing mission engineering practices.

    This position will be involved with program schedule and budget planning to ensure compliance with SAIC earned value management processes, support training of SAIC team, and ensure that system requirements are being met.

    Perform trade studies and proposals for next-generation systems, undersea programs, and provide technical leadership in multiple functional areas.

    Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Participate in all phases of design, design reviews, and proposal development.
    • Leverage expertise in military weapon systems.
    • Collaborate with other senior engineers and scientists to advance SAIC design and bid and proposal efforts.
    Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and 18 years of experience
    • Fifteen (15) years in relevant work experience working with undersea technologies including torpedoes.
    • Experience with torpedo systems engineering.
    • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles.

    Clearance:

    • Must hold US Citizenship
    • Must be willing/able to obtain a Secret security clearance

    Target salary range:
    $175,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
    SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.
