    Position Overview:

    Join us as the Elementary Campus Principal at Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School You'll inspire and motivate staff, students, and parents while ensuring our 1st-5th grade educators have the support they need to bring our IB PYP programs to life.

    As a principal, you'll embody joyful, child-centered learning through inquiry, with a focus on promoting Chinese language success for all.

    Join our inaugural cross-campus Senior Leadership Team and create a cohesive learning experience for children and families transitioning from our new Early Learning Campus.

    Serving as a trusted member of the Yu Ying cross-campus senior leadership team and providing voice, perspective and wisdom on the development of initiatives and programs across campuses to create a developmentally appropriate and cohesive "Yu Ying Way"
    Oversee education staff coaching and evaluation plans.

    • Provide guidance and support to instructional leaders on achieving team performance standards and goals.
    • Direct the implementation of staff development and in-service training
    • Counsel and advise school employees where necessary.
    • Develop strategies for team building, goal-setting, collaborative decision making and evaluation.
    • In partnership with Yu Ying's Talent and HR team, use recruitment materials and processes to select high quality talent and ensure we have a strong new teacher/staff onboarding process
    Oversee the development and evaluation of school curriculum. Ensure school curriculum meets appropriate academic standards and fulfills the standards and practices of the IB PYP framework

    • Analyze data and develop and implement plans for instructional improvement growing out of program assessment
    • Oversee the development and enforcement of school culture and behavior management policies in a consistent, respectful manner.
    • Ensure rigorous execution of all Elementary Campus Academic Systems. Enforce all District laws, codes and policies, maintain adequate records and ensure all compliance deadlines are met
    • Administer District and site discipline, intervention policies and safety programs
    • Develop and administer site budgets and assure proper allocation of funds for instructional and non-instructional equipment and materials
    • Work in partnership with members of the operations team on cross functional responsibilities in the areas of attendance, field trips, supply orders, front desk support, meal/snack service, student health and wellness care and safety/security.
    • Work with our Learning Support & Intervention Coordinators to effectively manage our MTSS systems so all students receive effective academic, attendance and SEL interventions
    • Oversee the authorization process and daily fidelity to the IB PYP standards and policies.
    • Oversee the accreditation process to the MSA-CESS guidelines and expectations in collaboration with cross-campus senior leadership.
    Model Yu Ying's values and champion the school's mission and vision. Develop and maintain strong relationships with Yu Ying stakeholders - students, families, staff, faculty, neighbors, partners and Board

    • Attend, conduct and/or chair a variety of meetings with staff, parents and community
    • In partnership with the Yu Ying's development & external relations team, arrange for campus public relations, special events and achievements and represent the school at various functions
    Teaching Credential, Administrative Credential preferred

    • Three years successful experience in school leadership
    • A courageous advocate for all students and families who is driven to lead diversity, belonging, inclusion and equity initiatives at Yu Ying
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and organizational planning skills
    • Extraordinary skills to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community
    • Passion for IB PYP and immersion programs required, experience with one or both models a preference
