    Designer Location:
    Norfolk, VA, USA (On-site at ODU Research Park /Innovation Hub)

    Candidate Period of Performance:
    Base Period: 1 January 2024 – 31 December 2024
    Option Period One: 1 January 2025 – 31 December 2025.


    Job Related Taskings:

    • Gather and evaluate user requirements, in collaboration with product managers and programmers
    • Provide advice to the PM and PO on backlog prioritization
    • Create user stories, personas and storyboards
    • Determine information architecture and create sitemaps
    • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
    • Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs and widgets
    • Build page navigation buttons and search fields
    • Develop UI mock-ups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like
    • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
    • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
    • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
    • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
    • Conduct usability testing
    • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images
    • Develop task flows and wireframes based on user needs
    • Create supporting artwork for Minimum Viable Products
    • Create user training artefacts (including short video)
    Essential Qualifications 1. University degree in Human Computer Interaction, Information Science, Human Factors, Human Centered Design and Engineering, or related discipline OR 5 years' experience as a UI/UX Designer

    • Strong experience in the development of artefacts such as sketches, prototypes, high-fidelity mock-ups, motion design, and project documentation
    • Proficient in a variety of design and prototyping tools — Sketch, Miro,
    Figma , Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, or others

    • Knowledge of Section 508 and W3C WCAG 2.0 guidelines
    • Experience working with teams embracing Agile DevSecOps principles
    • Strong skills with User Centered Design (UCD) methods
    • Able to work with a balanced team approach sharing context and decisions
    • Able to work with the Product Manager (PM) to iterate on the backlog
    • Flexible with dynamic changes to the product
    • Excellent management, communication, and presentation skills
    • Experience collaborating with a team of programmers with a varying of skillsets
    • Experience working in a rapid and interactive development environment
    • UI Design, UX Design, User Experience Analyst, or Customer-Centered Design Certification
