    Job Summary

    The Director of Accounting reports to the Assistant Vice President of Finance and serves as an integral part of the finance leadership team. The Director of Accounting is responsible for managing all general accounting functions; including preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; payroll, accounts payable, IRS reporting and bond compliance.

    Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.

    Example of Essential Functions:
    • Responsible for the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Monitor and ensure bond compliance and provide timely feedback on potential covenant issues.
    • Oversee all IRS regulatory reporting requirements including but not limited to Forms 990, Forms 5500, payroll taxes, etc.
    • Coordinate the annual independent financial audit and benefit plan audits.
    • Assure compliance w/GAAP and other professional and regulatory standards.
    • Oversee payroll and payroll practices are compliant with federal standards.
    • Oversee payment process for accounts payable.
    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with all finance team members, directors and senior leadership.
    • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications and experience in working with large data sets and enterprise-wide systems.
    • Knowledge of current generally accepted accounting principles.
    Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required:
    • Bachelors degree in Accounting and/or Business Administration with CPA certification preferred.
    • Minimum of five years experience managing accounting functions and professionals in a health care environment. Maryland HSCRC background is preferred.
    Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-4:30PM. Hybrid work schedule possible.
