Core Content Recommendation:

our team is responsible for designing and optimizing TikTok's content distribution and author growth mechanism to ensure the health and sustainable development of TikTok's content ecosystem.

Our work involves optimizing large-scale recommendation algorithms, solving optimization problems with complex constraints, designing and implementing recommendation architectures for various scenarios, and conducting complex and indepth analysis of product data.

Here, you can drive deeper into the improvement and optimization of machine learning/deep learning algorithms, including but not limited to Mathematics, CV/NLP technology, multi-task learning, multi-modal technology,
reinforcement learning, causal inference, metricing learning, graph neural networks, life long learning etc.

It is also possible to influence the future development direction of the product through in-depth analysis of the product and content ecosystem.

Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths.

Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. This Internship Program runs for 12 weeks beginning in May/June 2024.

Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following summer internship cycles below:

Build industry-leading recommendation system, improving user experience, content ecosystem and platform security;

• Deliver endtoend machine learning solution to address critical product challenges;
• Own the full stack machine learning system and optimize algorithms and infrastructure to improve recommendation performance.
• Work with cross functional teams to design product strategies and build solutions to grow TikTok in important markets.

Currently pursuing PHD degree in computer science or a related major

• Strong software development experience with C++, Python or other programming language;
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: applied machine learning, machine learning infrastructure, largescale recommendation system, marketfacing machine learning product;
• Graduating December 2024 onwards with intent to return to degreeprogram after the completion of the internship.
• Familiar with one or more of the algorithms such as Collaborative Filtering, Matrix Factorization, Factorization Machines, Word2vec, Logistic Regression, Gradient Boosting Trees, Deep Neural Networks, Wide and Deep etc.
• Publications at KDD, NeurlPS, SIGIR, WSDM, ICML, IJCAI, AAAI, RECSYS and related conferences/journals, or experience in data mining/machine learning competitions such as Kaggle/KDDcup etc.

For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (hourly) The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $74- $74.

We cover 100% premium coverage for Full-Time intern medical insurance after 90 days from the date of hire. Medical coverage only, no dental or vision coverage.
