- Must follow Ahlstrom-Munksjö's manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position's areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each product grade
- Actively promote and partcipate in safety efforts
- Manage customer claim system to ensure complete and timely investigation including concern, cause, corrective action, and check
- Provide product regulatory compliance to our customers
- Lead and participate in improvement projects and problem-solving teams within the mill as well as with suppliers and customers
- Monitor and analyze quality data with the goal of product/process optimization
- Oversee incoming raw material specifications and COAs
- Ensure compliance for certifications – Kosher, ISO, GFSI, etc.
- Manage document control system
- Promote management systems (quality, safety, food safety, etc.) by providing a basic understanding of requirements, specifications, test protocols, etc...
- Communication with internal and external customers including Operations, Sales/Marketing, Customers, Suppliers, and certifying bodies
- Other duties as assigned
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- 1-3 years of experience in applicable technical, manufacturing, product development, preferably in the paper industry; internship experience will be considered
- Bachelors degree in science or engineering, paper or chemical engineering preferred
- Good written and verbal communication skills as well as teamwork skills
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Must have strong analytical, statistical, and problem solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft programs with the ability to learn other software
- Ability to identify, prioritize, and drive multiple initiatives on an on-going basis
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Some weekend and holiday work, as necessary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing quality guidance and technical support within the plant (Rhinelander Paper Unit) as well as to customers. Responsibilities will include ensuring product compliance as well as leading and participating in continuous improvement activities.
