    Position Summary


    The Capitol Police Officer position performs all security and law enforcement functions on the assigned shift at DOA owned and leased facilities.

    This position provides law enforcement services to the citizens of the State of Wisconsin.

    This position determines appropriate law enforcement actions to be taken; applying and interpreting State of Wisconsin and Federal statutes; working with people from diverse backgrounds; recording and preserving evidence, enforcing parking statutes; providing first aid including CPR, and conducting beat patrols.

    Salary Information

    Starting hourly rate for the Police Officer position (schedule/range will be $25.00 per hour - $37.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

    This position is Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).

    Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.


    Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.

    Candidates must have a valid Wisconsin Driver's License with a good driving record. The selected candidate must successfully pass a drug screening, psychological evaluation, medical examination, vision screening, and fitness exam. This position requires ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, days, nights or swing shifts. Must also have the ability to be on call.

    A criminal background check will be conducted prior to selection.

    All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.

    DOA does not sponsor work visas.

    Qualifications


    Minimally qualified applicants will currently be certified as a law enforcement officer by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB), or eligible for certification within 30 days of application, or currently enrolled in a 720-hour Law Enforcement Academy.
