The Opportunity

KIPP Texas - San Antonio is seeking an experienced college access leader to join a KIPP Forward counseling team on one of our 6 KIPP High School campuses as a Senior Seminar Instructor. The Senior Seminar Counselor is responsible for building relationships with the school leadership team, KIPP TX - **** leadership team, local partner organizations and college/ universities that will lead to resources for students. The ultimate goal of the KIPP Forward college counseling department is to ensure all graduates can succeed in their academic, professional, and personal lives.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, collaborative, and service-minded leader passionate about closing the achievement gap in Texas.

• College and Career Access Knowledge and Skills
• KIPP Forward College Counseling focuses on data and relationships with students and their families
• Advise and coach students through the financial aid process
• Create access to college resources for underrepresented populations
• Knowledge of SAT/ACT registration processes and their impact on college access
• Provide family workshops on college match
• Introduce families to College Match and Career Exploration processes
• Complete Texas OnCourse in the first year
• Attend KIPP Forward regional PD sessions

Team Player

Collaborate with KIPP Forward regional staff

• Support KIPP seniors with lesson planning and execution
• Maintain relationships with external partners
• Participate in one-on-one check-ins
• Data Management
• Communicate student data progress to stakeholders
• Utilize student management platforms
• Track and monitor student data
• Monitor KIPP Forward post-secondary access goals

• Support KIPP seniors with lesson planning and application management
• Participate in grade level leadership team
• Other duties as assigned
• Support special programming in the college counseling department
• Create a supportive and inclusive classroom culture
• Meet all deadlines

• Considerable time spent at a desk using a computer/laptop
• Attend conferences or training sessions
