This Position Is Responsible For Greeting The Waiting Families Of Surgical Patients And Acting Liaison Between Family Members And Surgical Staff.

Provides Information Regarding The Anticipated Length Of Procedure And Progress Of The Patient. Ensure Families And Visitors Are Comfortable During Waiting Periods And Answers Or Finds Answer To Their Questions. Maintains Patient Confidentiality In All Interactions.

Responsibilities

Provides Accurate And Up To Date Information To Waiting Family Members Regarding The Surgical Procedure Based Upon Appropriate Knowledge Of The Procedure And Information Relayed From Surgical Staff.
Determines Most Effective Means To Meet Patients/Family Member Needs By Providing Appropriate Information/Answers.
Provides Accurate Directions To Other Area Of The Hospital, Bathrooms, Cafeteria, Coffee Shop Etc.
Facilitate Safe And Courteous Wheelchair Assistance To Patients/Family Members When Needed.
Keeps Informed Of Location Of Family Members And Visitors So They Can Be Contacted When The Doctors Or Nurse Needs To Speak With Them. May Initiate A Beeper System.
Maintains Patient Privacy And Confidentiality At All Times During Communication And Interactions.
Meets Performance Expectations For Customer Service, Teamwork, Resource Utilization, And Staff And Self Development As Outlined In Performance Review.
Performs Other Duties As Assigned Or Directed To Ensure Smooth Operation Of The Department/Unit.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
High School Diploma Or Equivalent

EXPERIENCE

One Year Experience With Direct Contact With The Public Or Functioning In A Customer Service Role, Computer Experience And Medical Terminology A Plus, CPR Required.

SPECIAL SKILLS
Must Posses Excellent Verbal Communication And Customer Service Skills.
