    Description

    Salary:
    $111,227 to $117,408.00 Annually

    Job Type:
    Full-Time

    Department: LAPD - Sworn

    Duties:

    • Maintaining order, enforcing laws and ordinances, and protecting life and property
    • Working with neighborhood associations and community members
    • Issuing citations, making arrests, preparing reports, and providing information to the public and departmental units

    Requirements:
    Must possess a current California Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate or meet other specified qualifications

    Selection Process:

    1. Multiple-Choice Test evaluating spelling, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and clarity
    2. Background Investigation including checks of various records and interviews
    3. Interview to determine qualifications
    4. Physical Fitness Qualifier
    5. Medical Evaluation including thorough examination
    6. Certification and Appointment upon successful completion of prior steps

    Additional Job Information:

    • Must be in excellent health and physical condition
    • Vision requirements specified
    • Note on background check disqualifications
    • Pre-Employment Substance Screening may be required

    Academy Training:
    Abbreviated training program based on experience

    Assignments:
    Initial probationary period as Police Specialist
