    Hours: Full Time - 35 hour per week

    Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000

    The Communications and Outreach Associate is a key member of
    Brooklyn Community Services' External Relations and Advancement
    Team. Reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Communications*,
    this role is responsible for creating communications, marketing,
    and social media content for the BCS Brand and providing
    communications support to BCS' programs and services.

    Responsibilities

  • Develop and draft communications for various internal and
    external audiences, ensuring messaging reflects the BCS Mission and
    Vision. This includes social media, blogs, pages on the BCS website
    (WordPress), seasonal newsletters, external events, email
    campaigns, and fundraising initiatives.

  • Create content for and manage the editorial calendar alongside
    the Deputy Director of Communications, with content that
    strengthens and increases BCS' visibility in New York City. Engage
    with partner brands, donors, volunteers, and community members on
    social media, and foster positive and fruitful relationships with
    organizational peers to grow our online presence.

  • Track KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) across social media
    channels to inform strategies and decision-making in the social
    media sphere. Build engagement, impressions, and following across
    all platforms.

  • Conduct monthly visits to BCS programming, interview clients,
    and capture photos of events, initiatives, and program participants
    for all BCS communication channels.

  • Support BCS External Events (such as the Human Spirit Awards
    Gala, Walk, Coney Island Sand Sculpting Contest, and the GKCC Poker
    Event) with excellent and adept copywriting for invitations and any
    marketing needs.

  • Fulfill marketing requests from BCS programs by writing copy for
    marketing and public education materials, including flyers,
    brochures, palm cards, and merchandise.

  • Support the Deputy Director of Communications and Graphic Design
    Manager in an administrative capacity, organizing ERA assets like
    photos, media, past created materials, and contact lists, as well
    as helping to manage ongoing projects

  • Build campaign emails in BCS Email System (Luminate) and track
    open rates, click rates, and important KPIs

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2 year+ of communications experience in the nonprofit sector

  • Knowledge of social media schedulers, applications, and best
    practices

  • Expert written and verbal communication skills, including
    storytelling and the ability to present to diverse audiences

  • Proven mastery of writing for various platforms, print and
    online

  • An understanding of how to take a compelling photo is a must,
    but an advanced understanding of photography is not required

  • Excellent attention to detail and project management skills

  • Strategic, self-motivated, and able to problem solve

  • An eagerness to learn and tackle new challenges

  • Comfort with data metrics and use of reports to inform
    strategies and decision-making

  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is preferred but
    not required

  • Experience with WordPress or another website CMS is preferred
    but not required

  • Commitment to the work of Brooklyn Community Services
