    **Description**

    Practice Support Specialists provide back off support functions to the practice operations as designed under the patient centered medical neighborhood. Tasks include primarily:

    **Indexing**: Complete existing batches of records in the EMR system: verify for accuracy on all documents in patient charts using patient name, date of birth and other appropriate identifiers. Utilize the copying service to process requests for release of medical records as appropriate. Update information in the electronic medical record as necessary.

    **Pre-Appointment Chart Preparation:** Help improve provider efficiency and patient experience by reviewing upcoming appointments to ensure the appropriate information is in the patient chart. This process is to be done for both new and established patients. Chart preparation is done for all types of appointments, including hospital follow ups, pre-operative appointments, new patient office visits, etc. Users will contact other offices to request missing records, as well as search databases like Meditech, CRISP, etc.

    **Handling Inbound and Outbound Calls:** Answer queue based telephones in a timely, professional manner. Direct calls to appropriate staff to ensure care is coordinated across all levels of the practice. Make patient appointments and gather basic patient information. Assist patients with medical records related inquiries. Perform clerical, scheduling and records activities, often simultaneously, in support of patients and staff. Make outbound calls to assist patients in gathering their previous medical records, respond to requests, and request information to be sent to the practice.

    **Required:** High School Diploma or GED required. One year office experience in a hospital or medical office setting preferred. Basic proficiency and accuracy in the use of computer programs, knowledge of NextGen preferred. Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality. Proficiency in medical terminology
