    Audubon is currently seeking a

    Senior Chemical Engineer

    to be part of a project team working onsite at a client's Chloroplene plant in Laplace, LA. The

    Senior Chemical Engineer


    will provide process technical support, assistance to operations, participate on various quality teams, participate in process improvements, participate on capital projects, provide technical assistance to area maintenance on reliability and uptimes issues, and participate on area Process Safety Management teams.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
    :

    Key Areas of Responsibility will include:

    Contributing with technical expertise to events that impact the safety, health, and environmental performance of the site.

    Leading and participating on site teams tasked to address the Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements including Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Incident Investigations and basic technical data like Standard Operating Conditions (SOC).

    Serving as technical lead for a specific area of the process. Providing technical assistance, calculations and troubleshooting for the daily operational, maintenance and product quality needs.
    Leading and steering the progress of capital projects ensuring they achieve the scope, schedule and cost goals.
    Providing basic data and calculations for capital projects. Participating in design and vendor information reviews for these.
    Identifying and leading cost and continuous improvement opportunities at the site.
    Assisting the Procurement Team in the development of bid packages for technical consulting firms and vendors.

    Mentoring younger engineers by delegating work, providing coaching of critical operating tasks, and reviewing calculations, minor design changes, and technical reports.

    Working and consulting with other engineering and design resources to ensure the efficient progress of initiatives.
    Communicating to site business management.
    Contributing to the safe operation of the plant.
    Other duties as assigned.


    EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
    :

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for the position:

    BS in Chemical Engineering from ABET Accredited University Program. Applicants with MS ChE degrees are welcome.
    8+ years' experience, preferably in a chemical or petrochemical plant environment.
    Experience with highly hazardous chemical processes, such as those handling chlorine, other HTMs or reactive monomers.

    Experience with leadership of Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and work streams, specifically Process Safety Information, Process Hazard Analyses, Management of Change, continuous improvement through incident investigations and root cause determination, auditing and on-time completion of PSM recommendations.

    The successful candidate may be tapped to take on a significant leadership role of our PSM program.
    Knowledge and experience of chemical manufacturing unit operations, like reactors and distillations units.
    Strong technical, analytical and organizational skills.
    Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    Aspen Plus or similar process modeling skills are considered a bonus.
    Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher is considered a plus.
